Greater Springfield AFP Outstanding Philanthropic Business Award

In recognition of Wallace & Turner’s exceptional dedication and contributions to the community, our agency has been honored with the Greater Springfield Association of Fundraising Professionals (GSAFP) “Outstanding Philanthropic Business Award.” GSAFP noted that Wallace & Turner’s contributions to the community go beyond just providing coverage – the agency actively invests in local causes, supports charitable events and fosters personal relationships. This has earned Wallace & Turner a reputation as a trusted agency that cares about the well-being and prosperity of area residents.

The prestigious National Philanthropy Day awards were presented on November 14, 2024, at the Ohio Masonic Communities Festival Green Clubhouse in Springfield from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. Tickets sales support the Association of Fundraising Professionals membership scholarships and GSAFP professional development opportunities for the nonprofit community throughout the year.

GSAFP is a dedicated group of professionals committed to advancing philanthropy by promoting ethical and effective fundraising practices in the Greater Springfield community. GSAFP provides networking opportunities, educational resources, and recognition for outstanding contributions to philanthropy.

Wallace & Turner Sponsors 10th Annual Donald Lee Memorial Golf Scramble

Wallace & Turner was proud to sponsor the 10th Annual Donald Lee Memorial golf outing, Box 27 Associates’ annual fundraiser which provides ongoing support to the Springfield Fire and Rescue Division and Springfield Police Division. Box 27 Associates is an all-volunteer group of men and women supporting local first responder organizations.

The event was held at National Links Golf Course in South Charleston, OH on September 21, 2024, with prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin as well as a luncheon and raffle/auction.

Wallace & Turner is proud to be a sponsor of the 14th annual Lights of Hope event, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network’s (ACS CAN) signature fundraiser dedicated to honoring those who have been touched by cancer and remembering those lost.

With help from volunteers across the country, ACS CAN will collect more than 70,000 Lights of Hope in 2024. Each Light of Hope represents a loved one’s cancer story—a survivor, someone in treatment, someone who passed from cancer, or someone who served as a caregiver.

Funds raised through Lights of Hope enable ACS CAN volunteers from across the country to make their voices heard to ensure that our cities, our states and our nation adopt evidence-based policies that improve the lives of people with cancer and their families.

Lace up your tennis shoes, the Happy Half Marathon is back in Springfield from August 9-10, 2024. The weekend features a series of events for the whole family: Happy Half Marathon, Hoppy 5K and Champion City Challenge. Starting and ending downtown, you'll wind through a course that shows you Springfield like you have never seen it before!

Race Information:

- Packet pickup will take place at Mother Stewart's Brewing Company on Friday, August 9, 2024.

- The 2nd Annual Happy Kids Fun Run will take place on Friday, August 9, 2024.

- Water and electrolytes will be provided along the course. Participants will receive a finisher's medal and refreshments at the finish line. Participants who sign up prior to the shirt cutoff deadline will receive a shirt.

- There is a 4 hour time limit for the half marathon and 5K (including Champion City Challenge participants).

The awards ceremony was held on May 8 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in Springfield.

Junior Achievement of Mad River Region is a nonprofit that inspires and prepares young people for success. Junior Achievement’s proven lessons in financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship are shown to positively impact the lives of young people. These lessons align with national and state educational standards and are delivered to millions of students across the country with the help of education partners and volunteers from the local community. Research shows that JA Alumni are more likely to have a college degree, feel confident managing money, have career success, and have started a business as an adult. Wallace & Turner has a long history of participation and support for Junior Achievement.

Wallace & Turner is sponsoring Bike to Work Day 2024, hosted by the City of Springfield on May 17. The event will mark not only the unofficial opening of bicycle season locally but the unofficial premier event on the newly renovated City Hall Plaza at 76 E High Street, Springfield, Ohio.

Bike to Work Day will run from from 7 am to 8:30 am and feature free food, raffle prizes, musical entertainment by DJ Chill and other fun festivities. The event is part of the Bike to Work week observance, which runs from May 13-19.

Wallace & Turner Serves as Diamond Sponsor for Champaign County Arts Council's 13th Annual Bad Art by Good People Fundraiser

Wallace & Turner is once again serving as a sponsor for Champaign County Arts Council's Bad Art by Good People fundraiser which features non-artist celebrities competing to create a work of art and campaigning for the public's votes for their artwork.

This year’s celebrity artist this year is Ed Asner, the late American actor known for his trademark husky voice and his role as Lou Grant on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and as the voice of Carl Fredricksen in the movie “Up.” The “Up”-themed piece, which is autographed three times, was donated to the fundraiser by Urbana Daily Citizen Sports Editor Steve Stout and it will be part of the dinner and auction.

The 13th annual event will be held on May 3, 2024, at The Woodruff Farm. All proceeds will benefit the Arts Council.

Over 10,000 attendees head to Veterans Park in Springfield every year for the Springfield Rotary Gourmet Food Truck Competition which also serves as a major fundraiser for the Springfield Rotary Club, with proceeds going toward services to people with disabilities, support of local charities/nonprofits/teachers, Polio Plus (for the worldwide eradication of Polio) and the International Project in Lesotho.

Wallace & Turner is proud to support United Senior Services’ Christmas celebration featuring Todd Stoll’s “Imperial Red Hot Holiday Stomp.” As Director of the Springfield Symphony Jazz Orchestra and VP of Education at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Todd brings his red hot eight-piece New Orleans style Jazz Ensemble to The State Theater in downtown Springfield on December 22nd from 7pm-10pm.
